Caledonian…..Founded in Edinburgh in 1869 by George Lorimer Junior, it was taken over by new owners in 1919 and subsequently became part of Vaux Breweries’ empire. In 1987 there was a management buyout. In 2004 the brewery site was purchased by Scottish and Newcastle which, with its new name of Heineken UK, bought the brewery in 2008.

Dancing Duck Brewery…..Husband and wife Ian and Rachel set up the brewery in 2012. Ian is a brewery design engineer whose work takes him all over the world. Rachel gained some experience working for Blue Monkey Brewery and now handles the day-to-day running of the brewery. The brewery has a tap, the Exeter Arms, in Derby.

Dark Star….. Was established in 1994 in the cellar of the Evening Star pub in Brighton. In 2001, the brewery moved to premises near Haywards Heath where a 15-barrel plant was installed. A few years later the business moved again to a  bigger site near Horsham. It was purchased by Fuller’s and is now owned by Asahi.

Wadwort…..One of Britain’s great regional brewers, Wadworth was founded in 1875 and has a pub estate that spreads through the West Country, from Hampshire to Somerset and up to Worcestershire, 202 tenanted and 42 managed. The current management are descendents of John Bartholomew, who was the business partner of founder Henry Wadworth, who had no children. The Victorian tower brewery in Devizes is one of the most famous of its type, and Wadworth also boasts a cooper as well as horse-drawn drays for local deliveries.
